Introducing Alfie

Born in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Alfie started dancing at a local dance studio, The Dance Centre Peregian Springs, under the directorship of Deborah Preece-Brocksom and Richard Leader.

Alfie continued training at The Dance Centre Peregian Springs until age 16, before joining The Royal Ballet Upper School in London where he trained for three years and graduated in 2023. After graduating, Alfie joined Birmingham Royal Ballet’s junior company BRB2 and started working at Queensland Ballet in 2024.

His inspiration comes from wanting to become the best possible dancer he can be and striving to push himself each day to reach this goal, which will always be a work in progress. A key influential person throughout Alfie's journey was his first ballet teachers Deborah and Richard, as they taught him most of what he knows about ballet. Without the support and encouragement of his parents, ballet may not have been a career he would have considered pursuing.

Alfie enjoys being outside and making the most of the lovely weather in Queensland (especially after living in England for four years), whether that be swimming or taking a walk with family and friends.

“Keep working hard and doing your best each day, even if you are not having the best day you can still learn something from each and every time you are in a dance studio.”

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
