Immerse your child in the magical world of dance over the school holidays with Queensland Ballet’s Winter School Holiday Program, designed for children aged 6 – 10. Held at Queensland Ballet Academy’s state-of-the-art home in Kelvin Grove, we are delighted to offer a Winter School Holiday Program exclusively for younger dancers aged 6 - 10 years.
Across this 4-day program, children will enjoy foundational training in the mornings in classical ballet, character dance, repertoire and contemporary dance classes under the guidance of Queensland Ballet Academy's world-class faculty. A full-day program option is available for sudents to enjoy enriching afternoon activities including a Pre-Professional Program rehearsal viewing.
Program participants and their parents/carers have the option to select in the registration form whether they are interested and happy to be approached about further training opportunities with Queensland Ballet Academy. Please ensure you speak with your main dance teacher prior to registering for the program and we encourage you to be transparent with them if you select these options in the form. Please note only select participants will be contacted about further training opportunities following the event.
Our Winter School Holiday Program participants along with an accompanying adult will also be offered an exclusive ticket discount for the Dress Rehearsal of Queensland Ballet’s Cinderella - My First Ballet on Wednesday 19 June 2024 at 6.30pm. Once you have registered for the Winter School Holiday Program you will recieve an email providing access to the discounted ticket price.
#Dance Training Intensive
Dance experience required
Tailored to young dancers with previous dance experience, providing professional training to refine and develop each participant’s technique. Delivered by Queensland Ballet Academy teaching faculty.
Half Day 9am – 12pm
The morning session will include a warm-up and body conditioning exercise followed by a range of classes across the program including:
- ballet technique
- character dance
- classical repertoire
- contemporary
Full Day 9am – 3pm (optional, included in the pricing for the Full Day Option)
During the afternoon activities, student will join together to engage in a number of fun classes and activities such as:
- dance improvisation
- mime class
- music and rhythm class
- video viewing of a ballet or dance performance
- rehearsal viewing of Queensland Ballet Academy’s Pre-Professional Program dancers
- and other non-ballet activities
Girls: Leotard of own choice, ballet tights and ballet flats. Participants may also wear black footless tights or shorts for contemporary classes, character shoes and a character/chiffon skirt for character classes. Participants are not expected to purchase new items specifically for Holiday Programs.
Boys: Fitted T-shirt and tights, or unitard, with socks and ballet flats. Participants may also wear footless tights or shorts for contemporary classes and if they already own them, character shoes for character classes. Participants are not expected to purchase new items specifically for Holiday Programs.
