#A sultry tale of seduction and betrayal.

Delve into the scandalous world of the Paris elite in Liam Scarlett’s vivid interpretation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ novel, Les Liaisons dangereuses.

Become entangled in themes of power, love and deception as characters leap from the pages, transporting us to 18th Century Paris where tormenting aristocrats and former lovers, Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont are plotting an irreverent plan.

After discovering her former lover, Comte de Gercourt, plans to marry the unsuspecting Cecile Volanges, Merteuil seeks revenge, devising a wager with Valmont; Corrupt Cecile in exchange for one night with his former lover. The only problem? Cecile and Valmont both have eyes for someone else.

Decadent costumes, lustful glances and not-so-secret love letters tell the tale of this intoxicating and provocative ballet, ending in heart break, social ruin and a battle to the death.

Please note: Dangerous Liaisons contains adult themes and is not recommended for children. This performance uses theatrical haze and low fog effects. Production performed to recorded music featuring Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra conducted by Nigel Gaynor.

A co-production between Queensland Ballet and Texas Ballet Theater.

Generously supported by Amanda, Alexandra and Claudia Talbot and the Ken Talbot Foundation.
