Ballet Classes
Ballet is an exquisite art form, that inspires creativity and musicality. It also is incredible for building strength, coordination and flexibility.
Our ballet classes are broken into four levels:
Foundations and Beyond - Ballet Foundations course graduates
Level 1 - Experienced Beginners
Level 2 - Intermediate
Advanced Ballet Enchainements - Intermediate/Advanced
More advanced levels move into developing your technique, co-ordination and rhythm through longer and more challenging sequences including adage, pirouettes and allegro combinations.
Contemporary Dance Classes
Contemporary dance blends the style of ballet and modern dance in a fun and creative class. We incorporate floor work and encourage you to try new things, getting you out of your comfort zone while developing skills, confidence and self-expression.
We offer two levels in our contemporary classes:
Open Contemporary – a perfect start for those wanting to explore contemporary dance for the first time.
Advanced Contemporary – suitable for more experienced dancers.
Allegro and Pirouette Technique
Practice and develop your classical ballet technique further with this class focused specifically on allegro and pirouettes. This class is suitable for dancers of all ages and abilities, and particularly for those who are wanting to improve on certain techniques.
Jazz Technique
Dance to your favourite songs in this jazz technique class that is targeted for all ages and dance abilities.
Class work includes strength and technique focused movements, followed by upbeat combinations travelling across the studio.
Ballet Pointe
We offer two levels of pointe classes at Queensland Ballet for our confident dancers.
Beginner Ballet Pointe
This pointe class is targeted for dancers starting out in pointe work and wanting to strengthen their feet and refine pointe techniques.
Experienced/Intermediate Ballet Pointe
Designed for dancers who are confident in their understanding of ballet technique and principles, this class will develop your ballet vocabulary, musicality and artistry. This class is suitable for casual adult dancers who have previous history of dance training, as well as ex-dancers, students enrolled in full time training or current ballet teachers.
Ballet Repertoire
Experience what it’s like to be a member of a ballet company, rehearsing excerpts from the classics. These classes are a rare opportunity to learn directly from Queensland Ballet’s Company Dancers, as they share their artistic expertise.
Classes include floor work and faster movements – suitable for participants at a Ballet Level 2 (intermediate) level.
Our next 4-week block of Ballet Repertoire classes will begin on November 6 and conclude November 27. Our final series of the year will be taught by Queensland Ballet Principal Artist Neneka Yoshida; join us to learn and explore 'Giselle' Act 1 Variation.
Taught by Queensland Ballet Teaching Artists, you’ll be sure to get a workout like no other. These classes are designed to improve your strength, mobility and muscle tone, and compliment our dance classes perfectly.
