Dance for Arthritis

#Program overview

Piloted in 2023, Dance for Arthritis is a 10-week arthritis exercise program delivered online, allowing you to join us from the comfort of your own home with Queensland Ballet’s experienced Teaching Artists guiding you through a range of adapted dance exercises and Queensland Ballet repertoire inspired movement.

We have partnered with The Arthritis Movement to develop this online group dance program. The Arthritis Movement will stay connected with you for the duration of the 10-week program to help keep you motivated, offer support, and provide additional resources so you can incorporate safe movement into your lifestyle.

#Why get involved?

Keeping active is vital for people living with arthritis. Regular exercise increases strength and flexibility which can help to decrease arthritis symptoms like joint pain and fatigue.

Several studies have found people suffering from arthritis had improvement in mobility and joint pain, as well as positive changes in depression, anxiety, fatigue and tension when participating in a dance program once a week.

Alongside the physical benefits, this program also offers a wonderful opportunity to connect socially through the shared joy and experience of dance.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
