Welcome to Season 2025

Love, Seduction, Wonder, Joy

In Queensland Ballet’s 65th anniversary year, we use the tantalising magic of ballet to transport audiences on a journey of iconic masterpieces, world premieres, and a carefully curated mix of established and emerging Australian and international choreographic talent.

Season 2025 is a celebration of all-encompassing ballet narratives inspired by the classic literature of Shakespeare, Choderlos de Laclos, Andersen and Hoffmann, infused with programs that will feature fresh choreographic voices and eclectic music that will leave you inspired for more.

Having celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024, we are incredibly excited to present one of our most spectacular productions – Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet. Our commitment to touring our great state continues in 2025, and we are thrilled to tour Coppélia to Toowoomba and Cairns in April and May. In June and July, our Triple Bill features three well-known creatives – Natalie Weir, Jack Lister and Greg Horsman.

Our My First Ballet series is always incredibly popular with families and children, so we’ve included not one but two audience favourites: Greg Horsman’s reimagined Peter and the Wolf and Paul Boyd’s retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, both at our Talbot Theatre. Three choreographers, three world premieres: in July and August, Bespoke returns with a fresh season of compelling contemporary dance with new creations by Amelia Waller, Yolande Brown, and Robert Binet.

August brings you the chance to witness the rising stars of dance with our Queensland Ballet Academy Gala, which was a sell-out in 2024. In October, we’re incredibly excited to share the narrative ballet masterpiece, Dangerous Liaisons. Created by international choreographer Liam Scarlett, this decadent ballet for mature audiences is a very special one that should not be missed. And this will be your last chance to see Ben Stevenson OBE’s cherished version of The Nutcracker, in December!

Love, seduction, wonder and joy – Season 2025 is one for lovers of stories, music, and ballet.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
