Queensland Ballet has entered a new partnership with jewellery extraordinaire Margot McKinney OAM. Fourth generation in her 138 year old family business, McKinney’s, Margot has taken the business to new heights internationally and was the subject of the Museum of Brisbane’s World of Wonder exhibition in 2022.
Margot McKinney creates rare one of a kind pieces of jewellery and is known around the world for her use of the finest of gems including Australian South Sea Pearls, Opals and Pink Diamonds.
A long-standing Queensland brand, the McKinney name is synonymous with luxury jewels with Artistic Director Li Cunxin AO saying this partnership is perfectly aligned.

“We’ve already been lucky enough to work with Margot for our 2023 Season Launch. Our dancers wore her stunning jewellery in the Strictly Gershwin shoot, and let me tell you, the results were truly exquisite,” Mr Li said.
Margot McKinney said that she is delighted to be working with Queensland Ballet, a jewel in Queensland’s crown, as both organisations have a shared vision for design and bringing happiness to people.
“Through my craft of jewellery design, I strive to bring happiness to people and to create adornments that signify love between two people. I feel that Queensland Ballet does the same through its extraordinary art form.
“I’m such an admirer of Mary and Li Cunxin AO. Their dedication to Queensland Ballet has enriched our state and placed us firmly on the international stage for the performing arts.
“I admire and appreciate the skill and dedication of the dancers and everyone behind the scenes who strive to bring snippets of joy and happiness to us in this remarkably demanding art form,” she said.
