On Point: Li Cunxin

On Point: Li Cunxin

On Point is a series of events proudly hosted by Queensland Ballet allowing insight into the world of inspiring creative people and their exceptional journeys.

The first of these will feature our very own Li Cunxin, whose early life and ballet career was made famous through his biography and subsequent movie, Mao’s Last Dancer.

Hear from Li himself as he shares the deeply personal stories and experiences that lead him to the pivotal moment that changed his life forever and defined his approach to the rest of his life and career. Reflecting on a rich tapestry of experiences, relationships, opportunities and challenges that weave together this extraordinary life, Li will take part in a hosted Q&A and will take questions from the audience.

This up close and personal event will take place on the Lyric Theatre stage, a setting in which Li feels very much at home and is symbolic of his fascinating life story.

#“From that moment, I promised myself I would never waste this rare opportunity – the freedom of life – that I was given.”

Li Cunxin

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
