Singapore Airlines: Bringing Queensland Ballet to the world, and the world to Queensland Ballet

Singapore Airlines will become Queensland Ballet’s Official International Airline partner as they announce a reignition of their relationship.

The partnership will enable Queensland Ballet to fly in all international artists, choreographers and repetiteurs for their 2025 season. This has already facilitated Queensland Ballet’s upcoming production of Coco Chanel: the Life of a Fashion Icon, with choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa being flown into Brisbane by the airline.

The partnership sees two like-minded companies working together to facilitate the engagement of international talent and enhance the cultural landscape of Queensland, says Queensland Ballet Director of Development and Endowment Rachael Walsh.

“Singapore Airlines is a global leader in the aviation and hospitality space, recognised for its outstanding service and commitment to world class experiences. Their quest for excellence aligns well with Queensland Ballet where we endeavor to present world class and unforgettable dance experiences to audiences in Queensland and further afield.”

“Each Queensland Ballet performance represents the culmination of years of work by a team of extraordinary artists including choreographers, designers, stagers, dancers, and many others. This invaluable partnership will facilitate bringing these talented teams to Queensland to captivate and inspire our audiences” says Ms Walsh.

The collaboration will also see Queensland Ballet’s Van Norton Li Community Health Institute work with the airline to produce inflight health and wellness content.

Established in 2023 The Van Norton Li Institute uses dance to create positive health and wellbeing outcomes for the community and presents initiatives including  Dance for Parkinson’s and Ballet for Brain Injury

“At Queensland Ballet we are passionate about dancing’s ability to enrich the lives of all Queenslanders both through the impacts on health and wellbeing and the meaning and expression it imbues in our lives. We are thrilled that Singapore Airlines, a globally respected organisation on the world stage, is as excited as we are about the shared journey ahead.”

Regional Vice President South West Pacific for Singapore Airlines, Mr Louis Arul explains

“Singapore Airlines' partnership with the esteemed Queensland Ballet reinforces our commitment to the Queensland region and its community.

“Through our global network connecting Brisbane and Cairns internationally, we are pleased to be the nexus between Queensland's vibrant arts scene and its global audience.”

Ms. Walsh expressed her deep gratitude to the airline.

“Queensland Ballet would not be what it is today without the generous support of our partners who offer crucial tools to help us achieve our vision. Thankyou Singapore Airlines for supporting our dreams and helping to shape the future of ballet in Queensland”.

2024 season

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
