Please double check that the venue and date on your tickets corresponds with those sent in your pre-attend email.

Arrival and Check-in

The main entrance to the Playhouse is located on Russel Street, South Bank. It is recommended you arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance starts to allow time for check-in and seating. The Box Office and cloakroom for the Playhouse are located on Level G. Large bags (larger than A4 size) and umbrellas must be left at the cloakroom.

Latecomer Policy

Please note that there is a strict lock-out period for latecomers to all Queensland Ballet performances.

Program

Complimentary printed programs will be distributed at the theatre with information about the performance.

What to wear

It's not necessary to get dressed up to come to QPAC, although if you are coming to an opening night, it is likely that guests will be dressed to attend a special occasion. Usually smart casual dress is perfect. Because all of our theatres are air conditioned, you may want to bring a light wrap or jacket, especially if you are dressed for Brisbane summer weather.

Please relax and enjoy the performance! Our dancers love to hear you respond and applaud as it lets them know you appreciate their artistry and are enjoying the production. Please remember to turn off all mobile phones and electronic devices before the performance begins.

Photography & Filming

Please note that photography or filming in the theatre is not permitted during the performance. However, during the curtain call when our performers are taking their bows, you are welcome to take photos. We encourage you to share these on social media – please remember to tag us on Instagram (@qldballet) and Facebook (Queensland Ballet).

Please note: Works to upgrade the footpath and urban realm on Melbourne Street have commenced and will continue until early November 2024. Night works are necessary throughout this period due to site access required via the Busway. Intermittently, high impact night works including saw cutting and jack hammering, will occur from 9pm to 5am on Melbourne Street between 49 Melbourne Street and the Grey Street intersection, from mid-July to early November 2024. Works are subject to weather and site conditions.

For more information on these works, please subscribe to receive weekly construction updates or contact the Brisbane Move Community and Stakeholder Engagement team on 1800 318 059 (24 hours) or brisbanemetro@acciona.com

#Dining and Refreshments

The closest dining option for the Playhouse is the Russell Street Wine Bar, located next to the cloakroom, directly below the Playhouse stalls foyer. The Russell Street Wine Bar serves tapas and light meals with an award-winning wine list before all Playhouse performances.

The foyer bar and merchandise stand are located on the Stalls level (Level 2 in the lift). The foyer bar sells antipasto plates and there are vending machines for chocolates and other items. An additional bar is located on the balcony level (Level 3).

Check with the bar staff during your visit, but it is usually okay to take drinks into the theatre as long as they are in plastic cups.

Southside, located in Fish Lane Town Square and specialising in East Asian cuisine, offers a 1-hour pre-theatre dining option for $49. See details here.

#Accessibility

Two lifts provide access to the Playhouse foyers from Russell Street. Check your ticket for your door number and go to Level 2 for doors 1-2, or Level 3 for all other doors. Unless you have specifically booked wheelchair accessible seating, it is likely that your visit to QPAC will involve some stairs, so please check at the time of booking or call 136 246 if you have mobility needs.

Wheelchair accessible toilets are on Level 2.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
