Community and Education Teaching Artists

Education Teaching Artists

Queensland Ballet's Community and Education Teaching Artists are a team of highly skilled artists who have a passion for sharing their knowledge and love of the art form and connecting communities through dance.

All Queensland Ballet Teaching Artists possess professional training and performance experience, and many have also been affiliated with internationally renowned schools and companies.

Through their specialised dance knowledge and experience working in diverse settings, our Teaching Artists bring their expertise to inform the creation and delivery of our Community and Education programs.

#Why should you get involved?

Becoming a Queensland Ballet Teaching Artist enables dancers to stay connected to their art form and continue to creatively contribute to the greater dance sector and social impact of the arts in communities across Queensland.

We are committed to supporting artists who have a passion for community, in their transition from professional dancer to Teaching Artist and provide opportunities to build confidence and gain specialised skills for teaching in various environments. Many of our programs also involve travel to remote communities across Queensland to work with local schools, dance studios and community groups.

Queensland Ballet Teaching Artists are provided with training and professional development that not only covers fundamental teaching skills but also focuses on program-specific and context-relevant content. This support is designed to complement and enhance the expertise and experience they bring to their roles, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality, impactful education.

Our Teaching Artists are employed on a flexible casual contract, which enables them to work on different projects throughout the year, whilst still managing their own personal or professional commitments.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
